Summary on 2021 China International Trenchless Technology Conference & Exhibition

2021 China International Trenchless Technology Conference and Exhibition was successfully held from April 16 to 18, 2021 in Suzhou International Expo Center. 2411 people from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country registered to participate in the exhibition. A total of 8,176 people visited the exhibition during the three-day session, and 133 people registered to participate in the seminar. At this seminar, Professor Yan Chunwen, Vice Chairman of China Society for Trenchless Technology (CSTT), gave a report on "Development and Hypothesis of Trenchless Technology". Professor Jens Hoelterhoff, chairman of the German Society for Trenchless Technology (GSTT), made an online report on "Rehabilitation of a 3000 mm water supply line under operating conditions in Buenos Aires". Mr. Hideki Shimada, the vice chairman of Japan Society for Trenchless Technology (JSTT) and the professor of Kyushu University in Japan, gave an online report on "Current Situation of Rectangular Pipe Jacking Technology in Japan". Professor Wei Gang from Zhejiang University gave a report on "Environmental Effect Evaluation of Double-line Shield Tunnel Construction". The heavyweight speakers, rich keynote reports and online Q&A interactions aroused great interest among the delegates.

The third "ITTC 2021 Junior Talent Development Forum" was held at the same time during this conference, which was sought after by young engineers in the No-Dig field in China, Japan, the United States, and other countries. This year, 6 academic reports shortlisted oral presentations were presented at the forum (overseas young engineers participated in the live broadcast connection), and the average age of young engineers participating in the 2021 "Star of the Youth" forum was 29.71 years old. A total of 14,739 people participated in the "Star of the Youth" WeChat online voting. Five Chinese judges made comprehensive ratings on technological innovation, academic level, on-site performance, PPT quality, etc., and finally combined WeChat voting and expert ratings. The "2021 Star of the Youth" are Saleh Behbahani from Purdue University, Gao Nifang from Zhejiang Communications Construction Group and Wang Niannian from Zhengzhou University.

The exhibition area of this year's exhibition is 16,000 square meters. The organizing committee selected 128 companies in the industry to exhibit their latest products and technologies. Among them, 35 companies participated in the exhibition for the first time, accounting for 26.5% of the total exhibitors. 95% of the exhibitors brought dozens of physical products to the exhibition. All the raw spaces were specially decorated, and all exhibits were sold out. This exhibition cooperated with the German Society for Trenchless Technology (GSTT) for the first time and received funding from the German government to launch the "German Pavilion".

Many GSTT senior members joined German Pavilion, further deepening the international cooperation, strengthen the exchange of the latest technology at home and abroad. The performance, quality, and appearance of the equipment in this exhibition have been further improved, showing the latest development trends and innovative technologies of trenchless technology in the construction of new pipelines and repair of old pipelines in the fields of municipal administration, petroleum, electric power, communications, gas, etc.

The China International Trenchless Technology Conference and Exhibition is presenting the vigorous vitality and development potential of China's trenchless industry with an unexpectedly large scale and rich cutting-edge technology. As the results of the epidemic prevention work are reflected, China's economy is on the road to recovery, faster than other countries in the world. The feedback from exhibitors and visitors reflects the growing demand for trenchless technology in the development of China's national economy. Since the preparation of the work in October 2020, 976 foreign industry peers have been invited to participate in the conference. In mid-December 2020, 876 foreign industry peers who have been following the Chinese market for a long time have received the progress of the event. The organizing committee sent point-to-point SMS invitations to 12,259 professional visitors in China at the end of December 2020, the beginning of March this year, and one week before the start of the event; 100 days before the event, it continued to push on the CSTT WeChat official account; And for the first time to use the form of on-site ticket purchase to enter the exhibition hall.

Before the conference, the China Society for Trenchless Technology (CSTT) held a working meeting of the council and expert group at the Suzhou International Expo Center. At the meeting, the directors and experts listened to the 2020 work summary report and 2021 work plan report of Secretary-General Hu Yuanbiao.
